Berdychiv ( uk, Берди́чів, ; pl, Berdyczów; yi, באַרדיטשעװ, Barditshev; russian: Берди́чев, Berdichev) is a historic city in the Zhytomyr Oblast (province) of northern Ukraine. Serving as the administrative center of the Berdychiv Raion (district), the city itself is of direct oblast subordinance, and does not belong to the district. It is south of the oblast capital, Zhytomyr. Its population is approximately . History The territory on which the city is located was inhabited as early as the 2nd millennium BC. Adam Berdichevsky
Adam Berdichevsky (; born 19 October 1983) is an Israeli mechanical engineer and competitive wheelchair tennis player.alternate link He represented Israel at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. He represented Israel at the 2024 Summer Paralympics, Israel at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, in both singles and doubles. Berdichevsky was born in kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, near the borders with the Israeli-occupied territories, Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip. He served in the Israeli military, where he met his wife. He later studied mechanical engineering at Ben Gurion University and Ariel University, where he earned a bachelor's degree, and now works as a mechanical engineer. He lost most of his left leg in a boating accident during a vacation in Thailand in 2007.
